SWANSKI’S DRAWING THEATER AT THE DEUS STUDIO
The Temple has always been a somewhat magnetic hub for the creative type. We advocate all types of art, from painting and photography to music and sculpture. We have also always had an open door policy when it comes to cool impromptu happenings. So when a Polish guy walks up off the street and asks if he can do a live art piece…we said why not?
Born in 1980 in Warsaw, Poland, and raised in both the last days of the Soviet empire and the birth of the modern Polish nation, Pawel Kozłowski turned to art at an early age. The need to escape the confusion and complexities of the time gave life to the artist within. ‘Swanski’ the Nom de Guerre he adopted around this time, was born.
Swanski mainly works in diverse mediums such as graphic design, illustration, painting, animation and ink. Drawing influences from artists from all corners of globe— Hokusai, Durer and Raymond Pettibon just to name but a few – his style is not easy to categorise or pigeonhole.
‘Drawing Theatre’ is a series of live painting events by Swanski. He has already completed a number of pieces around the world, ranging from sunny Long Beach, California to rainy Warsaw, Poland. This past Saturday, he set up his canvas in the Deus Studio and added his latest instalment to his series. Check out the photos and time lapse from the evening, we thing the piece came out pretty well!
