Christmas Colab art show opening
Thanks to a lot of helping hands, the 2011 Christmas Colab Art show at the Deus Gallery went down rather swimmingly. The 14 featured artists managed to get their work into the gallery in the final hours and some how there was no arguments in allocated wall space.
Just as the finishing touches were applied, the public started to arrive, perusing the walls and taking in each piece for what it offered them. Julian Zielonka’s recycled resin bench was definitely the main talking piece of the show…a couple hundred kilos of runoff resin, from months of glassing surfboards out back was manhandled and smoothed into a layered history of surfboards that have hit our racks.
Other than the resin bench, the range of mediums was rather varied…from hand made and hand screened wooden circumference skim boards to stickered glass and hand painted masks…they all reside on the Deus Gallery walls.
The entertainment for the night was provided by the Soldiers of Sounds, who rocked out with some energetic original sounds for the crowds enjoyment.
The booze was flowing, the good times were rolling and smiles were definitely abundant. Come down our way for a morning coffee or an afternoon beer and take a walk round the gallery, it wont disappoint…
