In Shawarma Veritas

Posted 2 months ago by Deus Australia

Last Sunday saw our return to Summer and yet another jam packed kitchen takeover. This time around it was a 9 course Middle Eastern experience topped with locally sourced beers and a metric tonne of wine.

Head Chef Tal Buchnik and Maitre d’Marco Di Federico were in charge of the kitchen with the feast inspired by Buchnik’s hometown Tel Aviv – and let me tell you; the two did not disappoint.

The menu was perfectly crafted to share with pals, so we put a call out to pallet pleasers, far and wide, willing to break bread with a few rev heads. The return sold out 3 sittings throughout the day, adding to the already dense anticipation of melting into some fresh lobster.

The third and final sitting is where this article takes place – somewhere between a setting sun and fire breathing belly dancer. As the belly danced and fire burned the culinary celebration turned into a free for all. With offerings such as Shawarma, Matbucha, fresh seafood and a Bearded Bakers Knafeh, theres no surprise I found my taste buds holidaying upon the shorelines of Tel Aviv and my waistline equally as far.

All in all it was a sensational evening with the highest quality produce, flavours and drinks on display. To see the House packed out once again with an electric buzz and smiling faces reminded us why Deus events reign supreme.

A special thanks to Head Chef Tal Buchnik, Maitre d’Marco Di Federico and the extended kitchen staff for supplying the flavours and Kenyon Batterson for supplying the flicks.
