The official presentation takes place today at Eicma 2017, the prestigious annual International Bike, Motorcycle and Accessories Trade Show. Alongside the Deus Cub Cubed a video will be projected at the official Honda stand but first you should watch the old ad for the EZ 90 (here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH34Czs_Sso) and only after you’ve watched it take a look at the video of the great Deus Cub Cubed.
We don’t usually get inspiration from looks from the past, but with the Honda X-ADV as a starting point we got our ideas straight away. This sophisticated, powerful studded scooter brought the 1990’s to mind, when another Honda scooter wowed with its freshness and lines. This too was studded and out of the ordinary: the Cub EZ 90. In some ways it was almost a toy, and so we decided to “play” too, creating the Deus Cub3: a Cub cubed.
Creating the structure which faithfully copies the original lines but in XXL format, took hundreds of hours of hard work, beginning with the construction of a model from which the moulds for the carbon fibre fairings were made.
Collaboration with some excellent partners has been very valuable. Kaos Design helped with the definition of the model as well as the finishing touches and fairing colour schemes; Pirelli developed a new size of the excellent Scorpion Rally STR knobbed tyres; SC Project created the small and lighter exhaust which gives the bike a racing feel.

Solitamente non ci ispiriamo ad una linea del passato, ma partendo da una base come Honda X-ADV è stato immediato avere l’idea. Questo scooter tassellato, sofisticato e potente, ci ha riportato alla mente gli anni ‘90, quando a stupire per linea e freschezza era un altro scooter Honda, tassellato e fuori dal comune: il Cub EZ 90. Per certi versi era quasi un giocattolo, e dunque abbiamo “giocato” anche noi, realizzando il nostro Deus Cub3; un Cub al cubo.
Per realizzare la struttura che ne ripercorre fedelmente le linee in formato XXL sono state necessarie centinaia di ore di lavoro, iniziando con la costruzione di un modello da cui sono stati poi ricavati gli stampi per le carene, realizzate interamente in fibra di carbonio.
Preziosissime sono state le collaborazioni con aziende partner eccellenti. A partire da Kaos Design per il supporto in fase definizione del modello, nonché finitura e colorazione delle carene; Pirelli, che ha sviluppato le nuove misure degli ottimi tassellati Scorpion Rally STR; SC Project, per lo scarico piccolo ed alleggerito, dal timbro molto racing.
