La Tica - Yamaha YZ125
The soon to be Costa Rican Queen is currently aboard the SS Deus ex Machina destined for the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. A 2000 Yamaha YZ125 that began its rebirth and transplantation after being pulled out of a dusty old shed at Forrest’s desert compound. From the arid expanse of the Mojave desert to the dense jungles of Costa Rica.
To explain the inspiration for this build we must take this story back to the year 2000, when a young motocross and supercross phenom Ernesto Fonseca hailing from San Jose, Costa Rica clinched the 125cc Supercross in championship in the USA aboard this same machine. It seemed fitting that we build this particular YZ and send it down to its rightful home in Costa Rica. The customer’s only request was that Ciaran build it like it was his own.
Ciaran Naran, resident builder at the Venice workshop put lots of elbow grease into what was a rusty, crusty rolling bucket of bolts and brought the bike back to life replete with custom bits and bobs. Keep in mind that both Ciaran and La Tica share the same birth year of Y2K… but being a former amateur motocross star himself, Ciaran was happy as a clam to dig into this one.
