We never expected, and here we were perhaps more than a little naive, that when we invited about twenty-five different motorcycle communities from around Bali to come down to the Temple of Enthusiasm and help us celebrate the launch of our “Son’s of Arak” pre-mixed cocktails, that we would end up with more than 200 people accepting the invitation which led us splitting the event over two nights last week.
Oh, we probably need to explain that “Son’s of Arak” are our four different flavoured pre-mixed cocktails, each consisting of a healthy measure of the Balinese liquor, Arak and a medley of juice, sugar, pop and more.
The fantastic thing about these communities, after we acknowledge the amazing people that they are, of course, is the bikes they ride. Our front yard, side yard and backyard were all full of motorbikes in all shapes, styles and sizes. The full gambit, ranging from the small Monkey Gorilla bikes, Vintage Trail, Chopper, Tracker, Vintage Cubs through to a bunch of classic 2stroke RX King’s. Talk about something for everyone. We like to think that they came because of their interest in our brand, which to some it must have been. But we’re realists and actually think a lot were there to satisfy their curiosity by understanding what our offerings would be like as we were entering their territory. The penchant for Arak runs deep through the local communities, what, if anything new, was Deus bringing to the table.
Things got underway around six as people arrived and after a tour of the carparks checking out the plethora of rides, people headed to the Backyard where we had centred things. We had a little subtle distribution of some freebies, taste testers to warm the hearts and loosen the lips. You couldn’t stop at one, we had made four fanciful flavours for our Son’s Of Arak for people to try. Apple & Peach, Pop Ya Cherry, Mojito & a Vanilla Espresso. While the flow of our boozy beverages began to work its magic on all and sundry, DJ Freedy marinated the place in his motivated melodic playlist.
We quickly got in before things slid into a headier drinking state, by inviting delegates from each of the motorcycle communities to come and take part in the Mother Hucker Battle Royale competition. Mother Hucker is a company run by some Canadian mates who had the great idea that axe throwing was something Bali needed. Battle Royale just refers to the knockout comp we were going to run between clubs. Nothing like a little healthy competition and the crowd agrees, selecting their bonafide agents to do battle on their clubs’ behalf.
We worked through the heats at a similar speed to the empty arak bottles stacking up, but things didn’t really explode until the semi-finals of the competition. Supporters from the remaining motorcycle communities cheered their representatives and jeered the opposition. It took more than a short while but after two hours of competition we whittled it down to a winning team. On the first night that was Treasure Garage. On the second night, the winners were from the G6K team. Congratulations to both teams for the win. But also, to everyone that came along to have a heap of fluid fueled fun.
Before things descended into the mire on a course we had set, we managed to pull a winner for the Lucky Door prize out of the hat. Up for grabs was a Framed Deus Event Poster that had been produced in oz and graced the Temple wall back when we first opened our doors ten long years ago. If an invitee filled in their bio they got a raffle ticket. First night it was a member of the TS 125 community. On the second, someone from the Nyag Motorcycle community.
After the formalities of the evening, the punters settled in, ordering more of our Sons Of Arak to be drunk along with the heady beats sending bodies to sway.
If there was a winner over the two days, we’d have to say it was the Apple & Peach flavoured variety. It won by a country mile in the consumption stacks.

Kami tidak menyangka atau mungkin kami sedikit naif , kami mengundang 25 komunitas motor yang berbeda untuk datang meramaikan launching “Sons of Arak” kami yang merupakan perpaduan minuman khas Bali, yaitu Arak dengan rasa jus buah dan lain -lain. Akhirnya ada lebih dari 200 orang yang menerima undangan dan hal ini pun membuat kami harus memisahkan event ini menjadi dua hari di minggu yang sama.
Yang terbaik dari komunitas ini selain mereka orang yang keren, tentu saja motor-motor yang mereka gunakan. Halaman depan, samping hingga halaman belakang kami dipenuhi dengan berbagai bentuk, gaya & ukuran motor. Motor langka, dari mulai yang terkecil motor
Monkey Gorrila , Vintage Trail , Chopper , Tracker, Vintage cub hingga classic 2stroke RX King. Kami berpikir bahwa mereka datang karena ketertarikan kami akan brand kami, yang kebanyakan orang pasti juga tertarik. Tapi setelah kami berfikir secara benar-benar dan realistis ternyata banyak dari mereka datang untuk memuaskan rasa ingin tahu mereka dengan memahami seperti apa penawaran kami saat menawarkan apa kecintaan mereka terhadap minuman beralkohol. Pertanyaan karenaKecintaan pada Arak menjalar ke dalam komunitas lokal, apa , kira-kira apa dan seperti apa Arak yang akan dikeluarkan oleh Deus ke meja pada malam itu.
Segala hal seru di event ini dimulai sekitar jam enam, mulai dari orang tiba dan setelah tur melihat motor-motor kustom keren di tempat parkir, orang-orang menuju ke halaman belakang tempat kami melalukan segala aktifitas . Kami memiliki sedikit pelicin bibir yang berbentuk botol arak gratis, penguji rasa untuk menghangatkan hati dan mengendurkan bibir. Anda tidak dapat berhenti di salah satunya, kami telah membuat empat rasa yang fantastis Son’s Of Arak untuk dapat dicoba. Apel & Peach, Pop Ya Cherry, Mojito & Espresso Vanilla. Sementara varian rasa arak beralkohol kami mulai memberikan keajaibannya pada semua orang, DJ Freedy memukau tempat itu dengan playlistnya yang memotivasi untuk bergoyang.
Kamipun segera masuk ke susunan acara berikutnya sebelum keadaan menjadi semakin parah, dengan mengundang perwakilan dari masing-masing komunitas sepeda motor untuk datang dan mengikuti kompetisi Mother Hucker Battle Royale. Mother Hucker adalah perusahaan yang dijalankan oleh teman kami dari Kanada, dimana mereka memiliki ide bagus bahwa melempar kapak adalah sesuatu yang dibutuhkan Bali. Battle Royale yaitu kompetisi lempar kampak dengan sistem knock out antar komunitas motor. Tidak ada yang lebih baik daripada kompetisi yang sehat dan penonton yang seru, memilih tiap perwakilan mereka untuk bertarung atas nama klub mereka.
Kami bekerja menyamai kecepatan yang sama dengan botol arak kosong yang menumpuk, tetapi semuanya tidak benar-benar meledak hingga masuk ke babak semifinal . Pendukung dari komunitas sepeda motor yang tersisa menyemangati perwakilan mereka dan mencemooh oposisi. Butuh waktu lebih tetapi setelah dua jam kompetisi kami memangkasnya menjadi satu tim pemenang. Pemenang pada malam pertama adalah Treasure Garage. Pada malam kedua, pemenang diraih dari tim G6K. Selamat untuk kedua tim atas kemenangannya. Dan terima kasih untuk semua orang yang datang dan bersenang-senang.
Sebelum segala sesuatunya turun ke arena dansa yang telah kami siapkan, kami berhasil menarik mengundi pemenang untuk hadiah lucky draw. Dimana hadiah yang diperebutkan adalah Poster Event Deus yang telah di bingkai yang diproduksi di Deus Australia dan menghiasi markas kami ketika kami pertama kali membuka pintu kami sepuluh tahun yang lalu. Jika seorang undangan mengisi biodatanya, mereka mendapat tiket undian. Pemenang undian di malam pertama adalah anggota komunitas TS 125. Di malam kedua, seseorang dari komunitas Nyag Motorcycle.
Setelah semua hal formalitas pada malam itu, teman-tema komunitas pun bersantai, memesan lebih banyak Sons Of Arak kami untuk diminum bersama dengan musik memabukkan yang membuat tubuh bergoyang.
Jika ada pemenang selama dua hari, kami harus mengatakan itu adalah varian rasa Apple & Peach Sons Of Arak kami. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari banyak nya tumbukan botol varian rasa tersebut.
Deus Ex Machina sangat berterima kasih kepada semua komunitas sepeda motor lokal yang datang selama dua malam, kami bersenang-senang, ayo kitalakukan lagi. Kepada Ramon dan Majalah Gastank, terima kasih telah datang dan turut membantu kami. Dan tentu saja untuk Ryan dan timnya dari Mother Hucker. Kehadiran kalian sangat membantu kedua acara peluncuran Son’s Of Arak kami naik ke level yang lebih tinggi.
