Once upon a time, though just a month ago. In a land far far away, amongst the rice fields in Canggu Bali. Noosa shaper, top bloke and all round gentleman Thomas ‘Doc’ Bexon and his cape crusading pommie partner in all things fibreglass, Jake Bowery, came to the laboratory to mix up a shape made for the break at the bottom of the road. The resulting concoction is the ‘Tugu’, named after our local break. It’s a double ender of sorts with a slow burn rocker. Added to that a subtle concave in the nose that tempers to a smidgen of a roll before finishing out with a panel vee through the tail. Sweet 60/40 rails chart the outline giving away liberal doses of both hold and turn. Put through it’s paces by Thomas himself, before he was happy enough to let it be test driven by a couple of hard riders; Husni Ridhwan and Little man. By all accounts it came up trumps. This is a board that once you find your point of fulcrum, will chart you through waves from small to way tall. After testing and testimony they were only left with enough time to cut and colour five of these magic beasts while in Bali, of which two have already gone to happy homes. The last three are looking for their new proud parent, waiting patiently in the racks down at the Deus Temple of Enthusiasm. Don’t fret when they are all gone though, as they are also available through Thomas Surfboards in Noosa.
